KOLOK MEE


Kolok Mee does not originate from Sarawak's Bumiputera community, it was first brought in by the Sarawak Chinese community migrated from Fukien Province, China. The origin of the word kolok comes from "kon loh" which means dry noodle, but eventually sarawakians turn it to kolok mee.


Today, Kolok mee is still popular among the Chinese and Malay hawker stalls and renown as the most sort-after street foods.


However.... Over time, such immersion of cultures and ethnicity integration in Sarawak's pluralistic society, the crave for Kolok Mee has since then become every Sarawakian's morning or afternoon delights, and even supper!


Kolok mee are also known in different terms in different communities in Sarawak, for example :


i. "Mee Kolok" - among Sarawak Malay community

ii. "MeE Kampua" or "Ta mee" - among Sarawak Chinese community

iii. "Mee Rangkai" or "Mee Kering" – among Sarawak Iban community


An overwhelming response among Malaysians, particularly Sarawakians' frenzy craze over Kolok Mee lead to a Myojo's introduction of "Instant Kolok Mee" which have established a worldwide market with overwhelming demand especially among E-PACs supermarket network in Auckland, New Zealand, TESCO and many other stores.


Thus for those who were abroad and tempted to savour the melting sensation and the smell of our oozingly tasty gravy-filled Sarawak's Kolok Mee, Quickly grab the last stash of limited supplies of Kolok Mee at the nearest supermarket!
